“For a lot of the young people, it’s the first time they get to be in a space side by side with teachers—not about power over, but about sharing what they care about and what they want to see happen in their school.”

Alan Wong
BELONG Partners Facilitator

The BELONG Partners DOOL (Designing Our Own Learning) program is a youth-centered initiative that empowers students to take ownership of their learning by designing projects and experiences that reflect their interests, identities, and communities. Working in collaboration with educators, the program creates space for young people and adults to learn and grow alongside one another—centering student voice while building social-emotional skills, equity awareness, and strong, supportive relationships.

We’re excited to be running our 7th annual DOOL program this summer, bringing together students and educators from Dimmitt, McKnight, and Risdon Middle Schools to learn, create, and lead side by side.
